A wild spring

Photo of the river from the ABC website when it was at its highest – you can see how much the flow has reduced by the time I took the photos at the top of the post…

There has been a couple of weeks of wild spring weather here after a long winter. Finally this week the sun shone for a couple of days – a relief. Auburn was headline news (too weird!), when the river rose dramatically. The Wakefield River often has no water at all, so it was amazing to see it flowing over the road, and rushing downstream in torrents. I was there last weekend and took some pictures (the pictures in mosaic form above. I think you can enlarge them by pressing on them). In spite of the weather, spring is still coming, and there were lots of flowers blossoming, in particular a whole heap of Ceanothus bushes which looked lovely against the bleak grey sky.
