“High biscuits”

When my niece was small (she is now 30-odd) and I had her round to my place or played with her at hers, we would do a bit of nature study from time to time – learning plant names. Two plants we came across early were bougainvillea and hibiscus. They are both quite difficult words for a wee one, and the latter she persisted in calling a high biscuit (or should it be the more conversational “hi biscuit”??). Whenever I see them now I think of this! And they are out everywhere now. Here are a few snaps…

Hello high biscuits! I’d not even noticed you this year. But maybe there aren’t so many down near the south coast? I’ll have to keep an eye open.
