We’ve covered 3 of 4 big spring unfoldings in this blog over the past few weeks – trees coming into leaf, animals having babies (remember the lambs), and birds – this week we complete the set with some flower photos. Everything has been blooming, and last week, Shelley, one of our regular contributors sent some gorgeous snaps of plants at her place (including the nasturtiums above – don’t you just love the vivid colour). I have been out too this morning, taking some photos of plants in people’s gardens on the way to the gym. I should have done it a week or so ago, as the roses that were bursting into bloom last week have dropped their petals or look bedraggled this week. Never mind, we can always have another post on roses when they come again. In the meantime, see below for some of the colour and beauty that is everywhere outside (don’t forget you can click on the photos for an enlarged view).
Beautiful! Are they really called New Zealand Christmas trees here? The maori name is ‘Pohutukawa’
Yes they are – I had no idea they were called anything else!!
If you ever get a chance to visit the Coromandel Peninsula near Aukland NZ those pohutukawa are everywhere, and beautiful.
And what about the … jacaranda?! Those trees are not only a perfect colour but beautiful wiggly dark branches against the blue sky.
Nicky you are a mind reader – there is a post on the gorgeous jacarandas coming up next. I have been seeing them and taking pics all week and they are fantastic I agree.
